MUST READ:
Have you ever heard of panspermia? A hypothesis saying that life on Earth originated from the so called "seeds of life" that came with asteroids and comets.

And what if there are places in Space, some sort of hives, where life forms in asteroid-like eggs! Unbelievable? Well, my imagination managed to paint that and then my hands followed :)

Don't need to read: :D
I got this idea when I was thinking of a submission for =theluminarium's pack Genesis, but back then I couldn't get the whole picture in my mind and I didn't know how to paint all that. It took me a while and only with a combined power of 5 of my works that I have dropped (I scavenged them for the best moments), I finally managed to put it to life :) I'm more than proud with it.

For those who thinks asteroid-eggs are too much, I will upload a version with just space. But bare in mind, that I will take any comment like:"I like version with no eggs more" as a personal insult and curse you for eternity! :D

P.S. Although I can tell them any time, but I want to thank ^taenaron and ^gucken for starting this contest. I don't know if I win, even if not, I've got a great please making on a sub for it. Thank you guys! :)

Lightning for that piece is really outstanding!
And whether the theory is right or wrong, it's still interesting (will have to read about that).
Good job :)

I'v eheard of that theory but I'm afraid I don't believe it, no way life could survive for millions of years in space with no supply of food warmth or even oxygen even with the protection of asteroid cocoons...kinda dissapointing really :dohtwo:

Awesome respresentation of the concept, reminds me of a commission I got that feel through that involved embryo's and space. I worked well over a month of the damn thing since the customer was so picky, then I told him I wanted $200 instead of the $50 I said first, thinking it was going to be fast and simple (which is still cheap for all that time) needless to say - the customer shot through...good riddance :p

Your ignorance doesn't refute a theory, I'm afraid. Panspermia is just as valid as any other hypothesis.

I've used it mainly to bring the viewer into my concept :) And nice job with that customer! :D

FUCK! That is bad ass, if you wanted crit-I'd say the red hot glow of the asteroids takes a little away from their depth, it seems to interfere with the shaddow because of its brightness, and makes them look flat. I'm not sure what you would have to do to improve though :| Perhaps the red glow is a LITTLE bit too bright.

Just some advice :) and thats really critical nitpicking, either way, epic piece dude.

When I was painting them I kept in my head an image of a thin layer egg with a strong light source behind it. That is my vision of it :D I wanted to go for bright red to contrast it with the dead/blue space around it :) And to compensate for lots of blue too )))

But I guess, you're right that it may be too bright, well, let's pr3t3nd that lifeforms "glow" on their own ;)

And thanks mate :)
